8th July 2005:
Citroen UK are ‘Ready to Run’ with KFS
Citroen
UK are pleased to announce the addition of the popular KFS
Special Vehicles 3500kg Car Transporter into their ‘Ready
to Run’ Programme. With no less than four model choices
on offer, the range starts with the Relay 1500 2.2Hdi SWB
as the base vehicle and is offered at a very competitive
price of just £14,595 plus VAT & Delivery.
The
KFS product uses a fully type approved chassis conversion
which utilises all OEM brakes, wheels and tyres. This was
a key consideration for Citroen as this would ensure that
there would be no issues with regards to Servicing &
Warranty. The body is an all aluminium design to give the
maximum payload and is equipped with 8ft aluminium loading
ramps, worklights, wheelstraps, tool locker, recessed spare
wheel and a single rotating beacon as standard with the
‘Ready to Run’ package. The complete vehicle
also comes with a 2 Year Unlimited/3 Year 100,000 mile Warranty
(whichever is soonest) which gives the operator peace of
mind while running the vehicle.
With
the Relay’s excellent fuel consumption combined with
no driving license or tachograph issues, the Citroen ‘Ready
to Run’ Car Transporter will provide a valuable addition
to your fleet and will offer you major cost savings when
in operation. For further information on the range please
contact your local Citroen Commercial dealer or KFS Special
Vehicles direct on 01264 350666.
8th July 2005: CMG Rescue Services order another
KFS Slide Bed
KFS
Special Vehicles have developed a very special 3500kg slide
bed vehicle. The first was supplied to Howard Basford Ltd
and after successfully using the original beavertail slide
bed they ordered 6 more. Based on a 2.0Hdi Citroen Relay
it will bring the fleet to a total of 12 units supplied
by KFS in a 12 month period. Howard Basford Workshop Manager,
Steve Grier, has nothing but praise for his vehicles “At
first I was very sceptical that the vehicles could even
do the job in the short term. We had beavertails but had
a real need for a no ramp Slide Bed. Working with KFS to
produce the slide bed has made the excellent vehicles even
better and, a year on with no problems, means we are now
adding to our fleet in large numbers”
Howard
Basford Ltd are now not the only benefactors of this great
new truck. A new convert to the KFS design are CMG Rescue
Services. Mark Cowan had seen the original adverts and press
release for the slide bed and felt that this vehicle was
very much overdue and needed within the recovery industry.
Mark ordered a unit based on a 2.3Jtd Fiat Ducato without
even seeing a vehicle in the “flesh” and, unknown
to CMG Rescue Services, the design was being further improved
by the KFS team to give a fully flat floor to enhance the
product further still.
After
CMG Rescue Services took delivery the agreement was to let
KFS take it to the 2 main trade shows and let people see
it. The response was overwhelming with many people looking
at it with interest and, not surprisingly, the competition
was intrigued.
CMG
Rescue Services were due to appraise the vehicle for approx
3 months but have now placed an order for a 2nd vehicle
with only 3 weeks under the belt of the unit. Mark Cowan
has been pleasantly surprised by the way the vehicle has
been used during that time, “This first vehicle
has really taken us by surprise, the utilisation, the ease
of use, the meagre fuel consumption are just some of the
benefits we have seen. The biggest advantage is the ability
to recover most types of cars on a “normal”
car license and means we can employ new staff and then train
them to drive and use a proper recovery truck to our standard
from 18 years old”
With
a high genuine payload and a purchase price of £19,000,
no driving license restrictions and superb MPG, this design
is set to stay and change the face of recovery for younger
drivers.
