Northampton Door to Door Choose KFS Freedom Low Floor Minibus

Northampton Door to Door has taken delivery of a Freedom low floor minibus from KFS Special Vehicles Ltd. The 16 seat coach built vehicle is based on the Fiat Ducato 3.0 litre cab which has a type approved chassis conversion carried out to it and has been supplied with Fiat’s comfortmatic auto box, air conditioning and ramp access at the rear for disabled passengers.

The vehicle will be used on their Big Lottery funded group hire service.

Belinda Summerfield (the main driver of the vehicle) commented "The Freedom is lovely to drive and a lot quieter than the vehicle it replaces, visibility is good and the internal space and seat width are ideal for our type of operation and the passengers we carry. What I also like is the large storage pen at the front of the vehicle which can accommodate a number of shopping trolleys and bags safely.”

The vehicles operational costs are funded through the Big Lottery but the vehicle itself has been purchased by Northampton Door to Door. Keith Goodwin (Manager of Northampton Door to Door) commented, “We were aware of the Freedom from KFS, because of the number of vehicles operated by Northampton County Council which have proved so successful, and having had the demonstrator it was the obvious choice for us.”
