"We don’t have to manhandle equipment on and off trailers. This vehicle is purpose built for grounds maintenance and parkland care, but it is also useful for other services where you have to shift a heavy load, or deliver goods somewhere.

We have made an efficiency saving on our parking space as well, because rather than a van and a 16ft trailer we now have 48ft of extra space available.

We kept two panel vans in service, and we managed to extend their life. Two are used for verge cutting operations to carry hedge cutters and strimmers on the back. So we now have five vehicles on the fleet. But next year we may even consider another Plant and Go truck"

Local Company Provide Transport Solution to Local Councils

KFS Special Vehicles Ltd based on East Portway Industrial Estate in Andover has provided a simple but effective solution to Local Councils faced with logistical problems as a result of changing legislation. KFS have developed a specialist vehicle which allows local councils to safely and effectively move commercial mowers to and from the wide range of sites which they are contracted to maintain.

The vehicle has proved an enormous success with both New Forest District Council and Havant Borough Council in providing a genuine alternative to trailer towing or the use of vehicles over 3.5 ton.

The Plant & Go range of vehicles designed and manufactured by KFS are a more cost effective solution both in whole life and operating costs than what has been traditionally used. The other key benefit is that younger employees within the grounds maintenance departments who have been restricted by their driving licence classification as to the type of vehicle they’ve been able to drive, are now with the introduction of the vehicles from KFS able to move mowers to site and cut grass without the need for a second employee being involved.
