KFS Plant & Go Provides Plant Transport Solution for Bournemouth Borough Council

KFS have worked with Bournemouth Borough Council to come up with a solution to not only provide a 3.5 ton transporter vehicle on which to transport their John Deere X740 mowers, but also the unit had to fit into a specific garage bay when not in use.

The payload capability of the truck was not in this instance the challenge, but some thought had to go into the truck design itself with the garage measuring only 6 metres in length and 2.6 metres high.

The space in which the plant transporter had to be parked was very tight, but with a combination of a reduced wheelbase chassis conversion, a bespoke built body and tailgate, KFS managed to tick all the boxes. The specific criteria of the vehicle played to all KFS's strengths; hands on project management, a generic design which allowed the truck height not to be an obstacle, and a kerb weight that easily offered the necessary payload.

Mark Warner (Grounds Maintenance Manager HLS) from Bournemouth Borough Council commented, "The truck surpasses our expectations and gives us a vehicle that allows us to move away from trailers, can carry everything which we operate and due to it's 3.5 ton gross vehicle weight means anyone with a full licence can drive it."
